Makeup Bag Monthly: May 2008 Edition

May Newsletter 2008
From the editor:
Welcome to the May edition of Makeup Bag Monthly .
I know I said that April was a busy month for me, but I lied. April has nothing on May.
My husband has been away on a business trip for nearly 6 weeks now, making my juggling act a little harder to balance. I must have taken his presence for granted in the past because never before have so many things needed fixing in our house. I’ll spare you the boring details of how many times I’ve had to call a plumber to fix the garbage disposal, how the motor burned out on our dishwasher and had to be replaced or how our grass is nearly 4 feet tall because you just might end up feeling sorry for me!
While Makeup Bag updates were sparse this month, I’m pleased to tell you that I have two months worth of content to cram into June. Yay!
But first, I must tell you about the most horrific thing that happened to me this month.
I got a new scale.
More than two people made it a point to tell me that the scale in my bathroom was reading heavy. This was great news to me because morning after morning since giving birth to my last baby (um, SIX YEARS AGO) I’ve stepped on that scale and cursed at the numbers that appeared.
Happy was I to hear that the 139 pounds that faces me each morning could possibly be more like 134! Or lighter!
I skipped out to Target and got myself a fancy new digital scale because, seriously, there’s no sense in being 139 when 134 is a possibility. (How stupid can I be?)

Blink.
Blink, blink.
AAAACKK!
Apparently, my friends had it all wrong. My old scale was reading light not heavy. After sulking for a good six hours, I decided it’s time to take action.
Operation Makeup Bag Shapes Up is launching and you have front row seats to watch my attempt to lose 20 pounds. What better way to stay on track than by humiliating myself in front of thousands of strangers on the internet?
Every Thursday for the next few months (or as long as it takes), Makeup Bag Shapes Up will feature a new photo of my bathroom scale—with me on it—, along with updates on my progress. (I can’t believe I’m showing you this. I think I’ve gone crazy.)
If this revolts you, I totally understand. Just don’t visit on Thursdays and we’ll all be fine.
Much love,
Erika

PS- These photos of Bailey and Janey have nothing to do with nothing. They are just here because I think they’re cute.
