When I started this website in August 2006, I jokingly called myself Beauty Editor because 1) I never imagined people would actually read it, and 2) being the founder, CEO, majority shareholder, and head honcho—I can call myself whatever the hell I want.

Needless to say, it feels incredibly surreal to see myself in this photo with Allure beauty director Amy Keller and Allure Web editor Fiona Gibb.

These girls are just as sweet as they are gorgeous!

Today is a state holiday here in Nevada and we spent our much-needed day off running errands, doing laundry, and shopping for Halloween costumes for the kids.

Wearing red lipstick on a day like today was almost as uncomfortable as showing up to the neighbor’s barbeque in a prom dress.

Except it wasn’t quite that uncomfortable because just LOOK at this red.

This is CHANEL Rouge Allure in Lover and it’s quite possibly the most perfect red we’ve ever worn. Terribly chic, creamy, and ever so slightly pink—this is the red that all other reds want to be when they grow up.

Even in the company of our gorgeous teenage daughters (with our bangs clipped back and sporting an ugly outfit, no less) we still managed to score a compliment on our pretty lipstick.

That’s quite a feat.

After a phone call from our sister telling us that our Seven Reds in Seven Days photos are depressing (apparently we need some color, and our expressions are about as exciting as a 3-hour tax seminar), we thought we’d give you a smile.

Also, we’re wearing bronzer!

Today’s lipstick is Shiseido The Makeup Perfecting Lipstick in Real Red. This is a pretty, bold red with a berry undertone that seems to suit our (newly tan!) complexion. The creamy formula is highly pigmented and lasts for hours. Very nice.

Can we just say right now that wearing red lipstick every day for four days is HARD WORK?

Because it is.

With red lipstick on, we feel like we’re begging people to look at us. (So they can wonder why the hell we have fluorescent red lips—because that is precisely how to describe today’s color.)

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Certainly Red is certainly bright. This was surprising to us because in the tube it’s a lovely deep red with a cool undertone.

As we went about our day, we found ourself speaking in hushed tones—as if that might help diminish the obnoxious-ness of our lips—and trying not to smile.

We’re thinking tomorrow’s color should be a little better.
