Best Summer Foundation: Chanel Hydramax Tinted Moisturizer

kristen bell maui film festival

I love how Kristen Bell always has dewy-looking skin that doesn’t look at all greasy or made up. It might help that she’s nearly ten years younger than me, but I’m on to her secret.

This summer I’ve found the perfect foundation to keep my skin looking fresh and even: Chanel Hydramax Active Moisture Tinted Lotion SPF 15.

This tinted moisturizer is beyond amazing. The consistency is so light and non-greasy it melts into my skin and leaves me hydrated and glowy, just like Kristen Bell.

Tips for Applying Tinted Moisturizer

1. Even though most tinted moisturizers have SPF, be sure to use sunblock before applying. I like La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid, a super lightweight sunscreen that works great under foundation.

2. Use your fingers to apply, instead of a brush. This helps the product to melt and blend easily into skin. Also, it makes application a breeze when you’re running out the door.

3. Use sparingly. The point of using a tinted moisturizer is to keep skin looking fresh and moisturized without being over-done. If you feel a need to cake on your tinted moisturizer, you’re better off using a foundation with more coverage.

Chanel Hydramax Active Moisture Tinted Lotion comes in three shades (sand, bronzelit and sunlit) and is available online at Chanel.com for $60.

Current Obsession: La Mer The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF 15

pwd-fnd-group-image

Thanks to my friend Annie at Blogdorf Goodman I met and fell in love with La Mer foundations a few years ago.

For full coverage foundation, nothing beats the luxurious, silky feel of La Mer fluid and creme foundations with light-capturing gemstones that seem to make imperfections disappear right before my eyes.

Now, there’s a new powder foundation joining the club and I’m in love.

The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF 15 has the same great coverage and light-capturing qualities its fluid and creme cousins, yet the no-fuss powder formula makes applying foundation twice as easy. I can whip out a fluffy brush and have flawless-looking skin in 8 seconds flat (I counted!). It’s available in eight shades.

The only downfall to this new favorite is the price ($95), but sometimes it’s worth it to splurge on an amazing product.

La Mer The Treatement Powder Foundation SPF 15 is available beginning this month (May 2009) at select Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and online at LaMer.com.
