With both French actress Romy Schneider (don’t worry, I Googled her for you) and Audrey Hepburn as the inspiration, makeup artist Tom Pecheux for MAC Cosmetics created fresh, glowy skin and dramatic cat eyes for the look backstage at Badgley Mischka Spring 2010.

In the movie The Swimming Pool, filmed in France in 1969, Romy Schneider had a fabulous glow that Pecheux replicated on the models at this show with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Shimpagne.

On the eyes, he used Nanogold eye shadow and black liquid liner to create the Audrey Hepburn cat eye. Lips were lined in Whoorl Lip Pencil.

Hair for this show was created by Peter Gray for Redken. “I love the simplicity of this look,” says Gray. “But sometimes the most simple things are the hardest to achieve—the most complex.”

Gray applied Redken Aerate 08 Bodifying Cream-Mousse to damp hair to give the hair “a lot of guts” before blow-drying and then back-combing through the crest for volume. He then smoothed the hair back and separated into three horizontal sections across the back (see photo above). He first smoothed and fastened the middle section into a ponytail. He then used two more ties to fasten the remaining sections to the first ponytail.

Now comes the tricky part:

Gray then used a needle and thread to fasten the ponytail to the nape of the neck and then swept it up and through the loop for a sleek and glamorous result. Definitely not a look you can do by yourself at home!

Dashing Diva painted the nails an opaque shade of nude called She.E.O. to complete the look.

All morning I’ve been searching for details on Fergie’s fabulous hairstyle from last night’s Vanity Fair and Krug Dinner at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Just when I had almost given up, all the deets showed up in my inbox. There is a God and he’s smiling down on Makeup Bag today!

Rodney Cutler, celebrity stylist and owner of Cutler/Redken salons created Fergie’s glamorous 40’s inspired look.

Here, he shares his simple steps on achieving Fergie’s ‘do:

• Start off by spraying hair with Cutler Protectant Treatment Spray to protect hair from heat damage. Then, spray with Cutler Volumizing Spray to add a little volume and rough dry.

• Next, wrap pieces of hair around a 1/2 inch curling iron, created spirals. Spray each section with Redken 09 Workforce Hairspray before curling.

• Create a side part and over-direct hair so that hair sits flatter at the front. Brush out with a Mason Pearson brush to create an airy modern texture.

• Pull hair back to one side, twisting slightly, and secure knot with bobby pins.

• Finish with Redken Workforce 09 Hairspray for a long-lasting touchable hold.
