Memoire Liquide

Last weekend while in Los Angeles I stopped by Studio at Fred Segal with a few other Total Beauty bloggers for a tour of their gorgeous beauty department.

Their candle selection gave me goosebumps and it was beyond amazing to sample Princess Diana’s favorite fragrance (Blubell by Penhaligon’s London), but my favorite Studio stop was the Memoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery organ where the perfumers helped me create my very own custom fragrance.

Memoire Liquide

Created in 1984 by sisters Robin Coe Hutshing and Jennifer Coe Bakewell, Memoire Liquide offers hundreds of base fragrances that can be worn alone or blended into Bespoke formulas that are kept on file. To date they have over 5,000 formulas on file, mine included:

I named my special blend of tropical white flowers and pear essence “Lassa”—a nickname given to me by my father. (If you are a member of my family or a childhood friend, you most likely call me Lassa.)

Selecting this fragrance was so difficult.

At the organ I felt overwhelmed with all the glorious notes and my desire to try something new and adventurous, but ultimately ended up with a more comforting, predictable scent. The smell of Kauai.

Thank you to Total Beauty and Memoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery for this special experience.
