L’Oreal Paris: Color of Hope

Every year 22,000 women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.

L’Oréal Paris has raised over $14 million dollars since 1997 and remains committed to the fight against Ovarian Cancer. This month, to create awareness for this cause, L’Oréal Paris has a goal of 22,000 visitors to their Color of Hope website, in honor of the 22,000 women who will be diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer this year.

With nearly 12,000 visitors already and  just one week to go—I’m asking you, Makeup Bag readers, to please visit Color of Hope and show your support.

As many of you know, cancer took my father this year. I feel like every ounce of research for this horrible disease is taking a step in the right direction. Whether it be for cancer of the ovaries, bones or, in my father’s case, liver.

Please join Makeup Bag and L’Oréal Paris and visit Color of Hope

Teen Corner: L’Oreal Feria Shimmering Hair Color

Teen Corner

Last month we had a little hair coloring party sponsored by L’Oréal Paris for their New Féria Multi-Faceted Shimmering Colour with Bailey and her friends.

Bailey and I, along with our friends, are always coloring our hair at home. It’s quick and easy (as long as it doesn’t splash on the cabinets leaving dark stains that DO NOT GO AWAY forcing me to strip and re-stain them before my mother gets home–which could pose a problem for those under age 18 as painting supplies are apparently the drug of choice for some teenagers. Who knew?!) and the results are usually great.

The first thing Bailey noticed about New Féria Multi-Faceted Shimmering Colour is the thicker formula which makes application easier and less messy. Also, the smell was actually pleasant, unlike other formulas we’ve used in the past.

After the color was rinsed off and they dried their hair, everyone could not believe how soft and shiny their hair felt. And the color looked amazing:

The New L’Oreal Féria Multi-Faceted Shimmering Hair Color is available now at your local drugstore.

L’Oreal Paris Red Carpet Compact

L’Oreal Kwiat Golden Globes Compact

We must have this L’Oréal Kwiat Golden Globes compact as part of our compact collection.

With Swarovski crystals forming a star on the 18K yellow gold plated compact and a ruby crystal embedded in the push-button opening, every female nominee at the Golden Globes this year will be checking her reflection in luxury.

The L’Oréal Paris Red Carpet compact will be available to purchase at L’Oréal Paris retail stores (888-270-7743; suggested retail price $50). Teen Corner: Picture Perfect

Teen Corner

Hey, friends!

I can’t believe I’m already thinking about Back-to-School… it seems like summer just started.

For me, high school volleyball tryouts start in less than two weeks, and then school starts two weeks after that. NOOOO!

Some of my friends will be seniors this year, which means they’re getting ready for Senior Portraits. This can be totally overwhelming as there’s a zillion different things to think about: choosing a location, what to wear, how to pose, and most importantly HAIR AND MAKEUP.

Being the super-helpful friend that I am, I took it upon myself to check out some local photography studios for some senior portrait tips. (After all, no one wants to look back on their senior portrait and cringe .)

In addition to the basics of 1) wear solid colors to keep the focus on you and not your outfit, 2) schedule outdoor photo shoots during the hour before sundown for the best lighting, and 3) relax and be natural–I also learned a few makeup tips for looking your best in pictures:

CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder Benefit California Kissin LOreal Light Softening Blush

  • As much as you’ll be tempted to go all Prom with your makeup, please refrain. If you don’t normally wear blood-red lipstick and feather-tipped-falsies, it’s not a good idea to wear them in your senior portrait.
  • Powder is your best friend. While natural, dewy skin is lovely in real life, it can translate to OIL SLICK in pictures. Not good. I like CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder .
  • Shimmer and sparkles can reflect light and cause the same I-didn’t-wash-my-face-today look. Step away from the sparkles!
  • Too much gloss can look as if you’re drooling. Ew. But a little blue-tinged gloss like Benefit California Kissin’ Smile Brightening Lip Shine can make your teeth appear whiter. (This one also has a minty fresh scent!)
  • Lightly dust the apples of your cheeks with peach blush. (If you’re like me and my friends, you probably don’t take the time to wear blush, but trust me–it makes a HUGE difference. Try L’Oreal Light Softening Blush in Charmed Peach.)

So there it is. Simple, easy, natural.

Happy posing!
