Makeup Bag: La Roche-Posay

What’s in my shower: August 2010

It’s been a while since I shared the contents of my shower with you! I’ve been based in Kauai, Hawaii all summer where I’ve had a pretty laid-back approach to my daily routine.

I’ve probably only blow-dried my hair a handful of times in the last several months but the high humidity and hot summer days equal significant time in the shower (at least two per day!)

Check out the shower products I’ve been using to beat the heat this month:

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

It’s actually been over two months that I’ve been using and LOVING this gel cleanser from La Roche-Posay. I wouldn’t say that I have oily skin (the skin type this cleanser is recommended for) however I am prone to breakouts and this cleanser has been perfect for my skin. Just a tiny amount lathers up nicely and leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean without leaving it dry. Also? No breakouts!

Peter Lamas Volumizing Rice Protein Shampoo & Conditioner

My favorite part of this Peter Lamas shampoo and conditioner is that it smells like Sweet Tarts. Also, the fact that it’s free of harsh chemicals and contains certified organic ingredients makes me feel so much better about washing my hair (twice!) every day. I like the Rice Protein version that leaves limp hair like mine feeling stronger and full of volume.

Dial NutriSkin Grape Seed Oil & Lemongrass

Multiple showers a day (plus an 8 yr old that likes to mix body wash into “potions”) means we pretty much go through body wash like it’s going out of style. I love that this Dial NutriSkin Grape Seed Oil & Lemongrass body wash smells amazing and leaves my skin fresh and moisturized without breaking the bank.

Schick Quattro for Women Trim Style Razor & Bikini Trimmer

This Schick Quattro TrimStyle is a great two-in-one razor. It has a shaving cartridge with four ultra-thin blades on one end and a waterproof, battery powered bikini trimmer on the other. The trimmer has an adjustable comb with three length settings. Every girl needs this razor in her shower!

Thanks to my friends at Schick, I am giving away TWO sets of The Smooth Bonus Pack, which features a Schick Quattro for Women TrimStyle razor, Skintimate Moisturizing Cream Shave to lock in moisture and Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Crème Lotion with SPF 50 to protect skin from the sun.

Leave a comment here and tell me your favorite shower product and you will be automatically entered to win The Smooth Bonus Pack from Schick and Skintimate.

Good luck!

It’s Friday, and the sun is shining

There’s nothing like getting 329 spam comments to start the weekend off with an bang. (And this is before we’ve even finished our first soy latte!)

This week the sun has been shining and it’s feeling more and more like spring here in Northern Nevada, which means we need to take that extra step to protect our skin from the sun’s harmful rays. We used to think that foundation or moisturizer with an SPF was enough, but really it’s not. (However, they do give us extra protection, so definitely use them when you can).

For complete broad spectrum sun protection, there’s nothing that compares to La Roche-Posay Anthelios SX. Using a revolutionary formula containing Mexoryl SX and Parsol 1789, Anthelios SX provides the highest daily photo-stable UVA protection available in the US.

Anthelios SX La Roche-Posay

Anthelios SX is a light moisturizer with a non-greasy texture that’s fragrance free and dermatologist-tested. It does not smell like sunscreen, look like sunscreen, or make our face feel like a greased-up sticky mess, as most sunscreens do.

We got ours at our dermatologist’s office for $29. It’s also available to purchase on the La Roche-Posay site.

Seriously, girls. Don’t leave home without it.

The Madonna of Cleansers

Biomedic Purifying CleanserEver since my mom brought me to the Lancome counter in ninth grade and treated me to my first REAL skincare regimen (Ablutia Gel Cleanser, Tonique Douceur, Clarifiance Moisturizer) I have realized the benefits of taking good care of my skin.

Many years and many, MANY products later, La Roche-Posay’s Biomedic Purifying Cleanser stands out to me as the leader in facial cleansers. With glycolic acid, vitamin E and antioxidants, this gentle cleanser deeply cleans pores while improving the texture and tone of skin.

If you’re prone to breakouts or would like to brighten your skin, this cleanser is for you.

Unfortunately, this product can only be purchased through your dermatologists office.

Biomedic Purifying Cleanser by La Roche-Posay, Approximately $30 (Prices vary)
