Oscars Beauty: Amanda Seyfried

amanda seyfried

Amanda Seyfried looked stunning in her Giorgio Armani Prive beaded gown at the Oscars on Sunday night.

“The look I was going for Amanda was movie star glamour while maintaining a young, fresh and modern feel,” says makeup artist Monika Blunder, who created Amanda’s stunning makeup look.

For Amanda’s skin, Monika started off moisturizing her with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid to give her a natural glow. Then she applied CHANEL Teint Innocence Foundation in Gentle Ivory all over her skin. Monika first lined her upper and lower lash line with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir, extending the line past the outer corner and up. Then she blended with a brush to soften any hard lines. Next, she applied the darkest colour in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes starting at lash line and blending up towards the brow bone using a variation of the lighter colors in the
palette.  She finished with CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Ivory on the inner corner of top and bottom lash line. To complete the eyes, she curled the lashes and applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale gave her a fresh rosy glow on her cheeks. Amanda’s look was completed by applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Perle.

Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant, is sharing his styling secrets to get Oscar presenter Amanda Seyfried’s cool, understated look with easy-to-use tips and tricks.

Harry gave Amanda the new Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner in advance as the frizz-fighting formula was essential to smooth and hydrate dry strands and replenish moisture for a nice, smooth blow out.

“These shampoos and conditioners were the perfect way for Amanda to prep her hair,” said Harry. “The look was clean and sleek, so it was important to start the fight against frizz early so that Amanda’s hair would be silky, shiny and totally manageable.”

He applied the new Root Awakening Strength Restoring Gel to Amanda’s hair at the roots to help achieve the sleek, flattened shape he was going for.

Using a tail comb instead of a round brush to avoid lift, Harry blew the hair out, combing it flat to the head as he dried. He then used the Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Shape & Shimmer Hairspray section by section to hold the style.

“Amanda has such beautiful naturally blonde hair that I wanted to ensure it looked its best all night and didn’t photograph dark – which some finishing sprays can cause. By using a light hairspray you avoid adding residue or darkening the blonde hair.”

Harry finished by creating an extreme, slick side part and pulling Amanda’s hair back into a bun. He left a little bit of the bun sticking out in a fan, a last minute decision he made to reflect the pattern on Amanda’s earrings.

rose byrne golden globes 2010

Australian actress Rose Byrne looked stunning at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles last night.

Celebrity makeup artist Ana Marie created this look for Rose and we have all the details on the products she used to create this glamorous Hollywood look.

Ana Marie prepped the skin with Secret de Vie Toner (her favorite!) and then applied Lancôme Bienfait Multi Vital moisturizer to keep skin hydrated and fresh. Lancôme Absolue Foundation in Ecru was applied with a foundation brush and blended with a makeup sponge. This helps the foundation go on evenly and keep the skin looking radiant. To create a sultry smokey eye, Ana Marie used Lancôme Eyeshadow Quad in Innocence Couture. The Positive shade was swept all over the eyelid and Fashion Scoop and Backstage Pass were blended just to the lash line and smudged. Next, Lancôme Artliner in Noir was used to create a cat line for extra drama. Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black coated the top and bottom lashes. Lancôme Color Design Cream Blush in Petticoat Pink was dabbed on the apples of the cheek and then topped with a powder blush, Lancôme Blush Subtil in Cedar Rose. This technique helps keep the cheek color fresh all day, even with the rain! Shu Uemura Loose Powder in Translucent was dusted on the T-zone to create a matte complexion. Finally, Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Simmer gave Rose her ultra-glossy pout.

Rose Byrne’s hair was styled by Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant, who filled us in on his styling secrets with easy-to-use tips and tricks to achieve Rose Byrne’s stunning look.

“I went for an old school Hollywood style with a modern twist,” said Harry. “The shape and silouette is classic, but I roughed it up a little and loosened the waves to make the look less up tight.”

Harry began by applying John Frieda’s Luxurious Volume Bountiful Body Mousse to Rose’s wet hair to add texture.

EXPERT TIP: “Before you start styling, add tons of Luxurious Volume Mousse to sectioned off hair. It will give hair the it texture needs to help the waves set and stay in all night,” explains Harry.

Harry blow dryed the hair with a round brush section by section. Using a small curling iron, he wrapped each section with the iron pointed down. Then he brushed out the curls until he achieved the perfect wave.

EXPERT TIP: “To ensure Rose’s hair would look perfect in front of the cameras and would stay full and lifted throughout the night, I sprayed John Frieda’s Luxurious Volume All Out Hold Hairspray. This spray is really light and dry so it doesn’t effect the style, but will hold waves in place for hours.” explained Harry. “A quick spray and she was ready to go.”

Last he added a side pin, just to give the look a little touch of glamour.

Emmy’s Red Carpet Watch: Rose Byrne

rose byrne emmys

Actress Rose Byrne looked sleek and gorgeous on the red carpet Sunday night at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Her hair was styled by Harry Josh, John Freida International Creative Consultant, who gave Rose this ultra-chic collar bone-length cut to accentuate her bone structure and play up her youth. “Since her dress was so elegant, I wanted to create a simple and chic look for Rose,” said Harry. “I knew that leaving her hair down to showcase her new cut would do just that.”

Since it was such a hot day in Los Angeles yesterday, Harry began by applying John Frieda Frizz-Ease Original Formula Hair Serum to Rose’s soaking wet hair to ensure her style remained frizz-free and polished throughout the night.

EXPERT TIP: “By infusing soaking wet hair with a dime-size portion of Frizz-Ease Serum, you can block frizz that is caused by humidity and fend off flyaways before they start, paving the way for smooth, flawless style,” said Harry.

Harry then applied Frizz-Ease Straight Fixation to Rose’s towel dried hair before blowing it out straight in sections using a FHI Heat Nano Weight Pro 1900 Turbo blow dyer and a round boar bristle brush. Starting with hair at the back of her head and working towards the crown, Harry emphasized a deep side part by pulling hair to the left as he dried.

EXPERT TIP: “It’s essential to begin blow drying from the roots when you’re wearing a side part,” Harry revealed. “Be sure to work hair in the direction of the part as you dry to ensure that the style stays in place.”

Harry finished by spritzing Frizz-Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mist evenly throughout Rose’s hair to amplify shine and flaunt her new color.

EXPERT TIP: “I wanted to be sure that Rose’s hair captured the light and appeared luminous when she was in front of the camera,” explained Harry. “100% Shine gave it a glossy finish that stayed all night.”
