Emmy’s Red Carpet Watch: Heidi Klum

heidi klum emmys

Heidi Klum was glowing on the red carpet at last night’s 2009 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

Pregnant with baby number FOUR, she wore a black Marchesa gown that hugged her every curve. Michel Aleman for Frederic Fekkai was responsible for her classy hairstyle while celebrity makeup artist Linda Hay created her flawless face.

Here’s how to get Heidi’s red carpet look:

Hair by Michel Aleman for Frederic Fekkai

Michel created a Fifties inspired up-do with a modern interpretation – ultra feminine with a bit of volume. To get the look he crafted soft texture with slight waves pulled back to softly frame the face. A strong middle part was accented by a chignon positioned back of the head at ear level. Michel started off by applying Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Gel to create some texture and then blow-dried the hair. Once dry, he applied Fekkai Coiff Oceanique to create the soft waves. He created a middle part and two pony tails in the back of the head at ear level, making sure the hair in front is smooth but pulled back softly. He teased each ponytail to create the volume and then brought together into one dramatic chignon. Aleman finished off with the Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist.

Makeup by Linda Hay for Victoria’s Secret

The simplicity of Heidi’s gown inspired Linda to keep her makeup minimal and fresh. She used a palette of pale pinks and apricots for her eyes and cheeks. To begin Hay used brightener around her eyes, nose, and the corners of the mouth, blending everywhere to even out Heidi’s complexion. She followed this with a very light touch of cream powder blush on the cheeks.

On the eyes Hay used a selection of pale pink and lavender shadow’s from Victoria’s Secret, applying the pale pink to the lid using a flat shadow brush, lavender in the crease using a pointed shadow brush and a silver to highlight just under the eyebrow. Under the eye Hay applied a touch of lavender using a small pointed shadow brush and then added a touch of silver to the inside corner of the eye to make it pop. Next she curled the lashes + applied 3 layers of Black Mascara to the top and bottom. Individual lashes were applied to the outside corners to make the eyes pop. The lips were lined with a nude lip liner then painted with a beige lipstick. She finished off Heidi’s look with Victoria’s Secret Body Perfecting Spray to make her skin glow.

blake lively emmys

Celebrity makeup artist Kristofer Buckle used Dior Beauty products to create a stunning “golden goddess” makeup look for “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively at the 2009 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles this evening.

“I used a lot of warm, honey colors on her skin and lips to make her green eyes pop,” said Buckle. “Then I topped off the look with tons of DiorShow Blackout Mascara, which transformed her upper and lower lashes into expressive frames.”

Skin: DiorSkin Airflash Spray Foundation in #301, Dior Skinflash #3 around the eyes.
Lips: Dior Serum de Rouge Lipstick as a base with Dior Lip Polish in Radiance Expert on top.
Eyes: DiorShow Blackout Mascara, Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Beige Messai #705
Cheeks: DiorBronze Original Tan in Amber Tan #03

*Makeup artist tip: “I used Dior Eye Show in Undressed Beige on Blake’s cheekbones and shoulders to create an ethereal glow,” said Buckle. “It’s technically an eyeshadow but it works basically anywhere you want to reflect the light!”

Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai styled Blake Lively’s hair into a long braid.

INSPIRATION:
A goddess style updo inspired by the modernity and elegance of the red Versace gown.

HOW TO GET THE LOOK:

Renato Campora started out by applying FEKKAI COIFF™ STRONG HOLD VOLUME MOUSSE onto wet hair. Next he blow-dried the hair smooth and applied the FEKKAI COIFF™ EXTRA CONTROL STYLING GEL to prep the hair. He then teased all the hair and pulled it up into a high ponytail. By adding some hair extensions to the ponytail, he created extra length for a more dramatic look. Afterward, he braided the entire ponytail and fastened at the end. Campora finished by applying FEKKAI COIFF™ MAGNIFIQUE ULTRA-LIGHT FINISHING CRÈME throughout the entire look for a smooth and sleek effect.

Sophisticated 70’s Style at Rachel Roy

rachel-roy-collage

Complementing the colors and textures of Rachel Roy’s Spring 2010 runway collection, celebrity makeup artist Bobbi Brown created a beautiful and precise eye channeling the 70’s but modernized for today’s woman.

To create this look, Bobbi started with perfect skin then created a natural, strong eye with a warm flesh tone on lower lid and Bobbi Brown Jet Creamy Eye Pencil smudged in the inner and outer corners of eyes. She finished eyes with clear brow gel and one coat of the new Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara (due to hit counters next month).

Cheeks were powdered with Bobbi Brown Dusty Flush Blush and lips were stained with Guava Lip Color.

Andre Rodman, lead stylist for Frederic Fekkai, created two looks for the Rachel Roy show—one feminine, one masculine, and both big on glamour. For the feminine look, a center part with waves starting beneath the chin, Rodman used Fekkai COIFF Strong Hold Volume Mousse, then sprayed hair with Fekkai COIFF Defense Pre Style Thermal UV Protectant and curled it around a 1 inch iron.

The masculine look was short with a severe side part tucked behind the ears. He used Fekkai Au Naturel Sheer Styling Gel and combed hair straight while he dried it.
