Makeup Bag: Essie

July 31, 2008

Like an old friend…

We turn to Allure by Essie time and time again for our manicure, never tiring of its sheer, simple hue.

Through the years, this is probably the polish we’ve turned to the most as it’s sheer enough to let the tips of our nails show through. Natural, yet pretty.

Essie Fall 2008

We love us some Essie nail polish. (Remember that one time we actually met her? Heart-stopping.)

These gorgeous reds from the Essie Fall 2008 Collection come in mini sizes, perfect for travel or your purse.

The colors are described as:

- Forever Young: Not for the faint of heart, amp up the glam factor with this fiery tango red.
- No Boundaries: This juicy passionate plum is ripe for the picking. Bold and intoxicating, it’s anything but ordinary.
- Lacy Not Racy: A twist on a classic, this velvety vintage burgundy walks the line between naughty and nice.
- Tomboy No More: Transform into lady sophisticate with this red currant truffle luxe enough to satisfy any lady’s craving.

These are available for pre-order at Nordstrom.com.

Her Essie-ness

Look! It’s Essie! We’re not kidding!

Essie Weingarten

Here at ISPA, we’ve had the opportunity to meet and talk to so many of our favorite beauty product companies, but meeting Essie Weingarten of Essie has to be the highlight so far.Essie Winter 06 Collection

She showed us her new Winter ’06 Collection which includes six new colors:

  • Bungle Jungle (hot hibiscus flame)
  • Catwalk (shining jungle rose)
  • Congo Bongo (snow leopard deep cream)
  • Jag-u-are (dangerously gleaming red)
  • Monkey Business (tawny as a lioness)
  • Wild Thing (ferociously sparkling wine)

In addition, we were able to try her new fast drying topcoat Good to Go! which promises a super shiny, chip-resistant manicure that dries fresh polish to the touch almost instantly.

Purrrrrr-fect!

And now, we’re off to see Creative Nail Designs for a spa-pedicure before we head to Caesars Palace for an exclusive sneak preview of their new Qua Bath & Spa. We’ll be back later tonight to tell you all about it.

It’s In The Bag

Essie It's In The BagWe like nothing more than painting our nails a deep, dark, rich color but sometimes we need our manicure to last longer than 3 days without having to touch up. This is where a pretty, pale pink never fails to impress and somehow manages to look perfect for an entire week (as long as we keep up on our cuticle oil treatments.)

While OPI’s Coney Island Cotton Candy and Essie’s Mademoiselle have been our favorites for the last several years, we still can’t help ourselves when we find a pretty new color to add to our collection.

This sheer white-pink shade called It’s In The Bag from Essie’s Fall ’06 Collection just might be our new favorite. Sheer enough for two coats without looking opaque, this color has just enough pink to make our nails look pretty yet classy.
