Kauai Life: Week In Review

This week we celebrated Thanksgiving, my least favorite holiday.

I mostly dislike this holiday because it reminds me of my dad, who has been gone for nearly six years already. His birthday is usually within days of Thanksgiving (this year it happens to be today) and every year since he died I find myself in a funk on this day. Also, I don’t really like turkey all that much.

I’m sure my dad would be bummed to see me moping around on his birthday. But since it’s raining and gloomy in Kauai today, it’s the perfect excuse for me to just pull the covers over my head and miss him.

We did make some rhubarb pies at my mom’s on Wednesday night, and that was fun. The pie was too tart for the girls, but I actually liked it.

I also captured this beautiful sunset from my bedroom window one night this week, I can’t remember which one:

The highlight of my week was watching one of my favorite babies for a few hours yesterday. (Wait. Who am I kidding? Every baby is my favorite baby.) Poor Janey had been out Black Friday shopping with Bree until 3am and then woke up at 5:30 am with me when the baby came over. Now that is a dedicated babysitter.

I saw this on Twitter and took a screen shot. I’m sharing it here in case you ever think that I don’t care. Because I totally do.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your loved ones.
