nicole kidman golden globes 2010

Nicole Kidman never fails to be the epitome of glamour at red carpet events. Last night at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards, celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin channeled old Hollywood for Nicole Kidman’s look.

Beauty Inspiration:
“Nicole is a true Hollywood movie star – and I knew I wanted to go with an old Hollywood look.  Somewhere along the way, I decided to kick it up a bit and make her eyes more sexy and sultry.”

Beauty Tip:
“To prepare Nicole’s skin, I used CHANEL Sublimage Cream all over her face and neck, and CHANEL Sublimage Eye Cream under the eyes.  Her eyes were a combination of CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadows – in Jungle, Bois Bleu, and Le Bronze.  I gave her a slightly dramatic look with two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. On Nicole’s cheeks I used the perfect coraly pink blush, CHANEL Powder Blush in In Love.  On her lips she wore CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Santal (shown above, center).”

january jones golden globes 2010

Celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin created a classy look for actress January Jones at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards last night in Los Angeles.

Rachel gave us the scoop on her inspiration for January’s look and how she created it:

“January’s Golden Globes makeup was all about taking a fresh approach to the classic red lip.”

“I used Le Blanc de CHANEL under her base to create luminous ‘glowing from the inside’ porcelain skin, then treated her lips with CHANEL Hydramax +Active Lip Treatment before applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris- a gorgeous garnet red from a new lipstick line launching in March. I painted the finest black line on her upper lid with CHANEL Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir and shaded under her eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Graphite in the outer corners. I finished her look by layering lots of different false eyelashes then added Exceptionnel de CHANEL Noir Obscur Mascara over the top for an intense black lash line.”

January Jones’ dramatic hair was created by top celebrity stylist Mark Townsend, introduced a new, modern
take on red carpet style.

Inspired by her gorgeous black Lanvin dress, Townsend created a head-turning look that was boldly accessorized with a sleek black ribbon headband.

“As soon as I saw the dress I knew I wanted to put her hair up,” said Townsend, “and I think that adding the satin ribbon as a headband gave a classic French twist with a very modern edge.”

I started by applying a small amount of Moroccanoil® Treatment to January’s damp hair and blow-dried it with a round brush.  This unique argan oil-infused formula gives the hair amazing shine and silky finish, an essential to the look I had in mind.

When the hair was dry, I took a dollop of Moroccanoil® Hydrating Styling Cream into my hands and then finger combed the hair to give a soft hold and add even more shine and leave the hair extremely smooth.

Finally, I gathered the hair into a French twist and secured with about 10 bobby pins. To give her a progressive, chic look I used satin ribbon as a headband.”

Products used to achieve January Jones’ Golden Globe hair look:

Moroccanoil® Treatment.  This remarkable, instantly-absorbed argan-oil infused formula is found in the kits of virtually every major celebrity, runway, and editorial stylist.  Exclusively designed to give hair a natural-looking silky, lustrous shine and a frizz- and static-free finish, it strengthens, conditions and revitalizes hair while speeding drying time up to 40%.

Golden Globes Glamour: Julie Benz

Julie Benz at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles

Dexter actress Julie Benz was stunning in a champagne-colored gown, sleek bob and flawless makeup on the red carpet in Los Angeles last night at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Julie’s look was created by celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan and we have the details on how Kelsey created Julie’s glamorous look:

Inspiration:
“The Golden Globes is clearly one special occasion and Dexter’s leading lady, Julie Benz, couldn’t risk having anything but a prefect glowing complexion on that red carpet. When deciding what look Julie was going to be wearing at the Globes this year, her fashion stylist, Joey Tierney, and I talked about a pretty, muted, monochromatic look. Julie’s dress is champagne color and we wanted to keep the makeup pretty subtle with some highlights to just bring out a little sparkle.”

How To:

PREPARE:  To begin, I applied intense moisturizing concentrate on Julie’s skin to give a bit of extra hydration before applying her makeup. The added bit of moisture allows her skin to stay radiant and carry the makeup throughout the night without getting dry or feeling heavy. Next, I brushed on a small dab of the depsea hydrability moisturizing lip balm to soften her lips. There’s nothing worse than dry cracked lips under a natural lipstick when it’s easily avoidable.

FOUNDATION: Julie likes to have a full coverage foundation, especially on big event days. The Shu Uemura Face Architect remodeling cream foundation is perfect for her skin. Face Architect gives buildable coverage without looking too heavy allowing the skin to keep a natural radiance while looking flawless. To set the foundation I took a large powder brush and lightly brushed on Shu Uemura loose powder in 5YR medium light. With a little power behind the brush and circular motions on the skin I buffed the powder into the foundation setting it and allowing Julie’s flawless canvas to be ready for color!

EYES:  Julie’s inner eye and eyelids are highlighted with Shu Uemura eye shadow in white 906. This shimmery white shadow picks up light and brightens her eyes. Above the shimmer is a natural matte color (Shu Uemura beige 835) that I brushed into her crease to give a hint of definition to the lids.

BLUSH: After the eyes I began to start sculpting the face by contouring Julie’s cheeks and temples. I used Shu Uemura Amber 82 blush as a natural contour. I applied the peachy rose blush just under the cheek bone to give added definition to Julie’s facial structure. I then took my blush brush and lightly dusted Shu Uemura Peach 43 blush over the apples of her cheeks to softly blend the contour and add a bit of healthy color.

LIPS: The natural lip is Shu Uemura lipstick in BG 907 and lipgloss OR 580N over it.
