Bloggerati Spotlight

Several months ago, Makeup Bag was invited to be a part of Daily Makeover’s exclusive Beauty Bloggerati, a group of the internet’s best and brightest beauty bloggers.

At the end of this week the Beauty Bloggerati is meeting up in New York City for two days of education, networking and FUN!

Unfortunately, a few of our members can’t make it to the city for our fun event so I thought I’d take a minute to spotlight their latest posts here:

  • Tammy from A Mom in Red High Heels finally gets the smooth and sleek hair she’s always dreamed of with a Brazilian Blowout.
  • You’re reading Hair Thursday, right? (Of course you are!) Pop on over and help Sarah find the perfect hairstyle for one of her readers.
  • New momma Bailey (stop by and say hello to her new baby girl, Follin) from Makeover Momma, shares her favorite summer travel makeup.
  • Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog (hands down, one of THE BEST beauty blogs around) shares tips from a recent Chanel master class.

Missing my little Hawaiian girl…

hwn girl

This week I’m on a business trip and feeling a little homesick.

This is quite unusual for me as I never get homesick when I travel for work, but here I am pining for my husband and children when there’s an entire city at my disposal. A BIG city. My favorite big city.

It could be that I’ll be missing Janey’s very first “dance recital,” which, in all fairness, is not even a real recital. We signed her up for a summer hip-hop class, half-way through the session, mind you (because I couldn’t get it together in time to figure out there was even summer dance classes available), and they’re having a little performance at the mall on Saturday.

Or it could be that my middle child (@bbbbailey) is sending out tweets like this:

baileys tweets

Or maybe it’s Bree texting me every two days asking me to transfer money into her bank account for “gas.” (Maybe not.)

It’s probably just that after finally having my family together for an entire two months, it sucks to be away from them again. Sigh.

I do have some amazing things to tell you, though. Like how I went to Miami Fashion Week last weekend where I went backstage at TIBI whose designer recently collaborated with Degree Women Fine Fragrance Collection and designed swim suits inspired by the fragrances (more on that tomorrow!), and how I’ve been previewing some amazing new holiday collections here in New York that I can’t talk about yet but just know that they are blowing me away with their gorgeousness.

Right now I’m trying to wrap things up at work so I can go meet some of my favorite beauty bloggers for drinks. Maybe a glass of wine will help ease my homesickness.

PS– Have I told you lately that I love you?! I’m not even kidding, my friends. I LOVE that you come here to Makeup Bag to see what beauty products I’m using and loving at the moment and, even more, I love that you let me cry on your shoulder at times. You are the best!

Thank you for reading and supporting this website. I truly appreciate each and every one of you!

Daily Style: Perry Street Frames by Kate Spade

frames

As far as home décor goes, I am always attracted to clean lines and basic neutrals, which is fine in theory but sometimes my house needs a little livening up. These fun frames are just the classic-with-a-kick accessories I need!

The perfect combination of boldness and simplicity, these frames boast simple, modern lines that are brought to life with pops of bright, punchy color.

Perry Street Frames by Kate Spade are available from Bloomingdale’s.

DuWop Mini Venom Trio

duwop mini venom trio

This sweet-looking trio proves that appearances really can be deceiving!

Each of the three tubes house a different shade DuWop’s super-potent plumping formula which utilizes essential oils to stimulate circulation and enhance the color and shape of lips. While not for the faint of heart, I know women that swear by DuWop’s products for delivering perfectly plump, shiny lips with just a little bit of a sting.

DuWop Mini Venom Trio is available from Sephora for $19.
