Emma Watson on the August Cover of Teen Vogue

teen-vogue-emma-watson-aug-o9

Emma Watson transforms from Harry Potter’s precocious overachiever to a full-blown glamour girl in the August issue of Teen Vogue.

EMMA ENCHANTED (P. 102): Sassy starlet Emma Watson has a lot to look forward to these days. The fifth installment of the Harry Potter films, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, hits theaters this month. The seventh book is being split between two films, which means the actress is currently promoting one movie, shooting another, and in pre-production on a third. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this tired in my life!” she says.

In the midst of filming, Emma plans to start college in the fall to study English Literature and art. The determined actress, who would like to live with a roommate in the freshman dorms, will not disclose where she is attending: “I probably sound like a paranoid nut, but I’m doing this because I want to be normal. I really want anonymity.”

Perhaps her decision to attend college is in part because she’s still not 100 percent sure that she wants to be a movie star. “There’s not a burning passion in me that I have to act and I don’t care what I do,” she admits. “Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione—like, I felt that it was life or death—I don’t want to act again.”
The poised actress also has a strong interest in fashion and a notable personal style. A fan of brands like Chanel, Balenciaga, and Burberry, Emma is careful to make sure her outfits never look overdone. She explains: “There’s nothing interesting about looking perfect—you lose the point. You want what you’re wearing to say something about you, about who you are.”

Other highlights from the August issue of Teen Vogue, on newsstands July 1, include:

RECESSIONISTAS (P. 114): From flea markets to vintage finds, savvy teens share chic ways to score a steal without compromising their passion for fashion.

GUT FEELING (P. 82): Teen Vogue investigates the effects of eating billions of bacteria, perhaps uncovering the secret to increased immunity, better digestion, and even weight loss.

LUCKY NUMBER (P. 80): From a close-up view of the runway show to the making of their iconic No. 5 scent, beauty and health editor Eva Chen goes backstage with Chanel.

SUPERBAD (P.110): Actors Robert Pattinson and Ed Westwick don’t always play by the rules—which only helps to increase their appeal. Why are smart girls drawn to boys who are nothing but trouble?

WINNERS CIRCLE (P. 122): Teens today seem to spend as much time comparing themselves to their peers as they do befriending them. Eva Chen reports on the rise of rivalry, from school and sports to style.

REALITY CHECK (P. 130): Test your style smarts for back-to-school fashion with cool button-downs, grunge-chic kicks, and oversized book bags.

Neil George Intense Repair Mask

neil-george-intense-hair-mask

Neil George Intense Repair Mask Indian Gooseberry is the ultimate solution for dehydrated and chemically damaged hair. Saturated with Indian Gooseberry, one of the world’s most powerful antioxidants, this mask helps to rebuild the hair safely and naturally while maintaining color and improving its strength and elasticity. The subtle scent of grapefruit sage provides aromatherapy.

Makeup Bag intern Monica tells us this mask left her hair hydrated without feeling weighed down:

“My parched strands need all of the hydration they can get, so I couldn’t wait to test this mask. The consistency is unique; rather than the rich, creamy formula I was expecting, it was thick and sticky, almost akin to a styling cream. I was a bit skeptical as I applied it throughout my towel-dried hair, but after just a few minutes and a quick rinse, my hair felt hydrated and healthy but not weighed down. For me, it was love at first whiff, as it paired perfectly with my Aveda Brilliant Shampoo. This will be staying in my permanent shower rotation!”

Neil George Intense Repair Mask is paraben-free and housed in an eco-friendly tube.

Available at drugstore.com for $38.

Daily Style: Ugg Fluffie Flip-Flop

ugg-fluffie-flipflop

Even the hottest, stickiest summer days can cool down quickly, either naturally or courtesy of an overactive air conditioner, turning your floors into blocks of ice.

Nevertheless, I’m not totally sold on the idea of shuffling around in slippers in July. Lucky for me, Ugg wasn’t convinced either and combined Ugg’s signature plush material with a tradition flip flop design – all of the warmth you need for winter in a style suitable for summer. Love!

Ugg Fluffie Flip-Flops are available from Victoria’s Secret for $40.

Clinique Almost Bronzer

clinique-almost-bronzer

I love Clinique’s range of “Almost” products, so I was ecstatic to see their new release of Almost Bronzer! It comes in a cute bronze compact with an included brush, perfect for tossing in your beach bag for spur of the moment touch ups.

I could see myself sweeping this sheer, SPF 15 powder on after a lazy day at the beach – just enough color to keep me from appearing totally bare-faced but still sheer enough to maintain a breezy, beachy vibe.

Available in Light/Medium and Medium Deep for $28.50 each from Clinique.com.
