Oscars Red Carpet Watch: Heidi Klum

heidi-klum-oscars

I’m not really feeling the hair on Heidi Klum tonight, but I love her makeup and red Roland Mouret gown that she wore to create awareness for Diet Coke’s Heart Truth Campaign. The graphic silhouette and bold red color of the dress required a softer, natural face to compliment the design rather than compete with it.

Make-up artist Linda Hay wanted to bring out on Heidi’s dramatic eyes and also incorporate the powder pink color of the coral and diamond Lorraine Schwartz jewelry on the lips and cheeks. Linda sought to create a look that was light and dewy while still modern and sexy.

HOW TO GET THE LOOK:

EYES

Linda began by lining the top and bottom lashes with Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Eyeliner in Dark Chocolate and highlighting the inside triangle of the eye with a shimmering nude eye shadow in Champagne. She then used the Victoria Secret Spring Look Eye Shadow Quad to highlight the eyes and make them pop. Using a large shadow brush, Hay applied Rich to the crease, Devoted to the eyelid and Champagne again as a highlighter under the brow and the inside corner of the eye. Using a smaller point shadow brush she blended a soft line under the eye from the outside corner to the tear duct. To finish, Linda applied three coats of Victoria’s Secret High Definition Mascara in Blackest Black.

CHEEKS

On the cheeks, Linda used the new Victoria’s Secret Highlighter/Blush Duo in Fresh to the apple of the cheek to create the allusion of more defined bone structure.

LIPS

Linda lined the lips with the Perfect Lipstick in Whisper followed by Victoria’s Secret Lip Gloss in Blush for subtle pink finish.

Oscars Red Carpet Watch: Angelina Jolie

angelina-jolie-oscars

Angelina Jolie‘s luminescent skin was the focus of her look on the red carpet tonight at the Academy Awards. Her simple makeup and half-up do looked elegant in a way only Angelina could pull off.

(Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have Brad Pitt on your arm!)

Angelina Jolie looked stunning in a black strapless Elie Saab gown paired with beautiful emerald-colored jewels which added a striking burst of color. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton created Angelina’s flawless look. Mary applied Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to the upper and lower lash lines. She emphasized the shape of Angelina’s eyes by applying more liner to the outer corners of the eye. Several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara were applied to the upper lashes for added volume and length. Mary put a touch of pink to the cheeks using Shu Uemura Blush in M Pink 31 and applied it to her cheekbones near the temple. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling.

Celebrity stylist David Babaii created Angelina’s romantic cascade of curls.”To achieve any Oscar Look it’s all about 4 main signature stages: drying, sectioning, curling and styling…” says David Babaii.

Here’s how he created Angelina Jolie’s hair:

To achieve this look, I sprayed Angie’s entire head with David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray and scrunched it into the hair (this gives just the right texture and hold).

Next, I dried her hair by dividing her tresses into 3 sections: top, sides and back leaving the nape area free. Taking small sections starting at the nape, I used the David Babaii for WildAid Blow Dryer with the nozzle attachment and finish the drying process with a large round brush to smooth hair straight. At the crown area, I sprayed David Babaii for WildAid Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier to the root area and down the hair shaft. Then, I dried this section with a jumbo round brush to add lift and volume.

Once dry, I sectioned the hair again using the same sectioning process as I did for blow drying. Using the David Babaii for WildAid Styling Iron, I once again sectioned the hair into 3 sections: top, sides and back leaving the nape area free. To curl, use the Styling Iron to create “ribbon curls” by taking small “V” shaped sections. To achieve, I wrapped the hair around and inside the styling iron close to the scalp area and pull the iron down (similar to curling ribbon).

After curling the entire head, I smoothed some of the curls with a brush while leaving some intact. At the crown area, I back-brushed the hair at the scalp area only, sprayed some additional Volcanic Ash Root Amplifier and gently smoothed the surface not to remove too much of the back-brushing. Next, to create her half-up, half down look, I brushed the sides up and back and secured with pins. To complete the back, I ran my fingers up several curls to create volume and variations in texture. For a long but natural lasting hold, I used David Babaii for WildAid Mise en Plis Light Styling Spray.

Oscars Red Carpet Watch: Sarah Jessica Parker

sjp-oscars

I’m loving Sarah Jessica Parker‘s darker hair and smooth curls, but let’s talk about her dress.

This “barely mint” Dior haute couture gown doesn’t seem to fit up top. In fact, I’d be surprised if the girls stay contained through the night. What do you think? Is SJP’s dress supposed to fit like this?
