Daily Style: Dior Extreme Cutout Sandals

Katie’s post today about a kick-butt pair of shoes got me thinking that I’m due for a pair of those myself.

Surely, this pair of Dior Extreme Cutout Sandals fit the bill. (And then some!)

This got me thinking— if I ever paid $780 for a pair of shoes (which I likely would not), I wonder if I’d ever wear them. Knowing me, I might keep them on display in my walk-in closet and not ever let them past the confines of my carpeted bedroom floor.

I think the most expensive pair of shoes I own are boots that put me back $350. (But I wear these so much, they are clearly a better value than some of the $95 pumps I have only worn once or twice.)

At what point do you draw the line when it comes to designer shoes? Are you willing to bite the bullet, pay the $780 and then actually wear the shoes? What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a pair of shoes?

  • I LOVE those! If I owned them I’d likely wear them once or twice a year but, damn, I’d look good 😉

  • Steve Madden and Bakers Shoes make their own version of these shoes for less than a $100!

  • I think the most expensive shoes I own are a pair of Christian Louboutin Decollete pumps that were around $600 and a pair of Lanvin black leather flats that were $500. Both of which I will wear forever and on a regular basis especially the Lanvin flats. Next fall my mom has agreed to help pay for a pair of Christian Louboutin knee-high boots that are around $1,200 which would be miles past where I draw the line were it not for my EXTREMELY thin legs that have forced me to spend my entire life searching unsuccessfully for the perfect timeless classic black leather knee-high boots that even remotely fit my legs. I did the math and in the long run getting these boots will actually save alot of money not to mention time. If I could buy a pair of $100 boots and have them actually fit me I would. The place where I draw the line is by how much you would wear the shoes, how trendy they are, quality, and if you have an actual need for them.

  • Actually…I found a VERY similar pair on Gojane.com for $20-ish! Just go to their “Movie Inspired” section.
