Well– hello, there!
Things are a bit dusty here in Teen Corner. Let me run the vacuum and tidy up a bit before I tell you what’s been happening with me.
First off, I feel horrible that I haven’t been around lately—especially since Makeup Bag was listed in the Shop5 list of top five beauty blogs but Teen Corner was pegged a "con" because I don’t update as often as I should. (Sorry, Mom!)
I’m happy to report that school is over and summer is finally here. I thought my Sophomore year would never end!
I did get to go to Prom, though, and it was SO MUCH FUN. I got invited by this Senior who I don’t really know very well, but I thought it would be fun. I didn’t want to get too dressed up for it because it wasn’t my prom, but I wanted to look pretty, so I selected a knee-length floral dress that I can wear again.
I got a blowout which made my hair super big. The stylist rolled heated sections of my long hair into gigantic donuts and pinned them to my head until they cooled down. This gave me big, bouncy hair without using a curling iron. Because my hair was so big, I kept the makeup to a minimum—I even forgot to put on lip gloss before I left. Yes, people… Bree went to Prom with naked lips!
I have to say, that night was SO fun. My date didn’t really feel like dancing, so I was all over the dance floor with other people. Three days later, I get this random phone call from The Date telling me how messed up I am because I ditched him at prom. My response to him was, 1) I totally did not ditch you, but if you think I did, why did you wait THREE DAYS before calling me? If you had an issue with me, you should have brought it up THAT NIGHT!, and 2) I’m sorry you didn’t have fun, but thanks so much for inviting me because I had a blast!
Boys, I swear.
On to the beauty…
I think I’ve told you before about my sister Bailey’s skin problems. She is really cute (annoying and sassy, too) but she is prone to breakouts. Breaking a sweat at volleyball practice three times a week doesn’t help the situation much.
This month she tried the Murad Get Clear Acne Trio ($47.50 value for $35 at ULTA) and I’ve seen a remarkable difference. (She also uses our mom’s Clarisonic Skincare Brush , which might be helping as well.)
More than anything, I think being consistent with her skincare regimen has helped. Using a three-step system that is easy to follow and doesn’t take much time has really paid off for her. (I tried to find some good before/after photos but Bailey wears a lot of foundation so it’s hard to see what’s really happening with her skin. In this photo to the right, you can sort of see that her skin is looking pretty good with not too many blemishes.)
I have really heavy, thick hair that I blow dry daily. I tried Kerastase Mousse Nutri-Sculpt , which is really supposed to be for fine hair, and my hair looked SO GOOD. It’s a mousse, so I applied an orange-sized amount (as directed) to my wet hair and blow dried as usual. Seriously, my hair was so soft and shiny and it smelled de-lish.
Because having good hair is vital to a teenager Kerastase Mousse Nutri-Sculpt has become a part of my everyday routine.
For the last several months, my favorite lip gloss has been MAC Lipglass in C-Thru but when my sister Bailey recently decided to make C-Thru her favorite, I figured it was time to find me a new one. (People already think we are twins —not sure what they’ve been smoking—the last thing I want is to have lips that match!)
Um, twins?! I think not:
In honor of Bailey loving my style so much she’s passing it off as her own— my new favorite lip gloss is MAC Plush Glass in Angel Cream . The color is light (just how I like it) but with a little pink tint to it—and it has a yummy vanilla scent that tingles. The only problem? It might be hard to find. It’s sold out online but you might find a tube at your local MAC counter. If so, grab it quick because this color is perfect for summer!
Until next time :]]]]
