Memoire Liquide

Last weekend while in Los Angeles we stopped by Studio at Fred Segal with a few other Total Beauty bloggers for a tour of their gorgeous beauty department.

Their candle selection gave us goosebumps and it was beyond amazing to sample Princess Diana’s favorite fragrance (Blubell by Penhaligon’s London), but our favorite Studio stop was the Memoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery organ where the perfumers helped us create our very own custom fragrance.

Memoire Liquide

Memoire Liquide

Created in 1984 by sisters Robin Coe Hutshing and Jennifer Coe Bakewell, Memoire Liquide offers hundreds of base fragrances that can be worn alone or blended into Bespoke formulas that are kept on file. To date they have over 5,000 formulas on file, ours included:

We named our special blend of tropical white flowers and pear essence “Lassa”—a nickname given to us by our father. (If you are a member of our family or a childhood friend, you most likely call us Lassa.)

Selecting this fragrance was so difficult.

At the organ we felt overwhelmed with all the glorious notes and our desire to try something new and adventurous, but ultimately ended up with a more comforting, predictable scent. The smell of Kauai.

Thank you to Total Beauty and Memoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery for this special experience.

  2. I forgot to mention that I’m glad you have a chance to go to LA’s Fashion week. You’ve been through some tough times lately, and a change of scenery may help. :)

  4. I think I remember seeing something of their line featured in Allure some months back. I love companies that let you create your own scent, but I would be overwhelmed to say the least. Maybe you created a family signature scent? ;)

  7. What a very special honor, I am very jealous. I will get to that (overwhelming looking) perfumery someday - I swear I will!
