Three Custom Color Specialists
Earlier this month, during Fashion Week, we had a chance to stop by the Three Custom Color Specialists Color Studio in New York for a consultation.
Co-founders Trae and Chad were on site to give us a tour of their color lab where their technicians were hand-pouring the Perfectly Pink Lip Gloss Palette (with love!).

Trae sat us down for a once-over and determined that Concealer #4 was best suited for our skin tone. (Which surprised us because, left to our own devices, we would have chosen a shade much lighter.) She carefully covered the blemishes on our tired skin and did her best to relieve us of the dark circles under our puffy eyes (a crazy schedule with no sleep wreaks havoc on our skin) but left the rest of our skin foundation-free.

She suggested a more natural finish, allowing our freckles to show through, for a fresher, younger look (who are we to disagree with that!). A light dusting of Cool Bronzer and bit of Poppy Lip & Cheek Stain and we were ready to walk out the door.

In addition to their amazing range of concealers, Three Custom is known for their Clarifier Pencils (dark & light) used on the inner rim of the eye to brighten and widen and their custom blending option. In their studio, they can re-create any discontinued makeup item or personalize your own custom color from scratch!

Erika,
I’m a little scared of ordering blindly off their website but I am impressed at how great your skin looked. Did it seem to last for very long? I want something that will last at least 8 hours.
Your skin looks amazing! I was planning on going to check out the new Elizabeth Arden foundation tonight, after seeing your before and after pics last week but I am thinking I might reconsider and check out 3 Custom. There are no stores that carry it close to me though

Hi Stephanie, Just know that the Three Custom is only concealer. She just dotted under my eyes, around my nose and a few spots here and there. The Elizabeth Arden is a full-coverage liquid foundation…
The Three Custom concealer actually did last for quite a while. Someone complimented my skin late that evening when I was feeling rather wilted!

Erika,
Your skin looks fabulous!
I adore the freshness of the makeover. I’ve noticed that more and more women are using thick, heavy, foundations to conceal everything, but I think it’s refreshing to see freckles and skin underneath it all! Not to mention, you look very young!
By the way, what is your background? You and your daughter have a beautiful exotic look.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Three Custom in San Francisco before. Do you know where I could find a location to check them out for myself?
I agree that the natural makeover certainly suits you and makes you looks SOO beautiful!

Thanks all for your nice comments. I seriously didn’t want to post that close-up of my face because I hate the picture (my eyes are all jacked up and I look all puffy) but I wanted you to see how my makeover turned out.
Lilan– it looks like the closest location is at Bombshell in San Mateo.

to Lilan: I think I seen the Three Custom counter at Macy’s in downtown SF. I remember walking by Macy’s and saw the words Custom Color.

Love the blog!
I agree with the others, I wanted to rush right out and buy the makeup they used on you. It’s ashame that they don’t have a location in the DC area so that I could try it out firsthand.
