MAC N Collection

MAC N Collection

We’re a little behind in posting the N Collection from MAC as it is already on the shelves and making waves with beauty buffs everywhere.

We often sport a naked face on weekends—our husband prefers the no-makeup look on us (he’s nuts, obviously)—but we have to admit, our scrubbed-clean weekend face has more to do with time/laziness than pleasing The Fisherman.

The gorgeous neutrals in this collection are just our speed and we can’t help but love how they give us a naturally polished nude look.

Teen Corner: Bigger is better

Teen Corner

Wow. I can’t believe it’s been so long.

How’ve you been?!

I am feeling fierce these days. Here’s why:

CoverGirl Lash Blast

LASH BLAST .

CoverGirl’s newest mascara is rocking my world. I usually don’t try mascaras that aren’t waterproof because—like my "the dog ate my homework" excuses—they never seem to work.CoverGirl Lash Blast

Funny thing about LashBlast is that I actually thought it was waterproof.

A few weeks ago, I spotted the orange tube in my mom’s Makeup Bag which set off a few sirens in my head because 1) I’d seen the Drew Barrymore LashBlast commercials and was dying to try it, and 2) when my mom doesn’t immediately tell me about a new beauty product she’s trying it means only one thing: SHE’S HIDING IT FROM ME!

Of course, I had to assume the LashBlast was waterproof because my mother would have no need to hide it if it wasn’t. (Just so you know, she hides her spearmint Orbit from us, too!)

The brush on this mascara is the chubbiest ever, with TONS of teensy little plastic bristles. At first glance I thought I would hate it, but I soooo do not. Somehow, this chubby orange mascara makes my lashes thicker and darker and longer than any other mascara I’ve used.

Which is why I was shocked to find out the tube we have isn’t waterproof— it doesn’t smudge or smear or flake AT ALL. For someone who wears contacts, this is huge.

The thing that sucks is that I can’t buy it anywhere—it’s completely sold out of every drugstore near my house.

This means that between me, my mom and my sister (it didn’t take Bailey long to catch on) we play musical chairs with the LashBlast every morning. Bailey even yelled at me this morning for applying an extra coat that she felt I wasn’t entitled to. The nerve!

If you find one of these chubby orange tubes in the CoverGirl aisle of your local drugstore, do yourself a favor and pick one (or twenty seven) up. You won’t regret it.

Breakfast at Bendel’s

This morning’s event at Henri Bendel in NYC was a gathering of magazine and web editors for an exclusive preview of beauty products for Spring 2008.

Thanks to Total Beauty, who scored us tickets, we had an opportunity to experience some amazing products—all of which we’ll be telling you about over the next few days.

It was so fun to see everyone swooning over Ted Gibson—(okay, it was JULIA)—and the super naughty new fragrance by Etat Libre d’Orange (the one where you need to be of legal drinking age before even considering a purchase), but the favorite part of our day was catching up with our blogger friends.

Losing someone you love at such a young age (our father was only 57) really changes your perspective on life. As we sampled products and listened to presentations this morning, we couldn’t help but feel so grateful to be standing amongst a group of old and new blogging friends who have been so thoughtful and supportive during this most difficult time.

Friends at Bendel’s

We should have taken more photos (as usual) but here’s a few of our friends: (l-r) Kristen, Amber, Marina (sorry, Marina! If there was a picture of you with your eyes open, we totally would post it—blame our pathetic photography skills) and Julia. Missing from this photo is Annie from Bella Sugar, our newest blogging friend who was right on the other side of Julia, yet managed to escape the shot.

Aside from having laryngitis (no, really—our hoarse whisper is barely discernible. It’s so bad that the girl who works at Staples admitted she was only working past her scheduled cut-off time to make copies for us because she felt sorry for us and our useless voice) it was a really good day.

And, holy crap, our new Le Metier de Beaute lipgloss in Cannes made our trek across the US yesterday totally worthwhile. Chicago layover included.
