There’s beauty in life…
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and get-well wishes for my father. Losing a parent is not something I thought I’d be dealing with at this time in my life.
Cancer is a horrible disease and it has overtaken his liver, leaving him feverish and weak. If I can be grateful for anything at this time, it’s that my dad lives in paradise:
There could not be a more beautiful place for him to be right now.
There is beauty in life.
Love,
Erika
UPDATE January 13: The fight is over. Cancer won. May he rest in peace.

My prayers go out to your dad and your family. God bless you!

Your in my thoughts, I lost my mom in 2000, way to young to cancer, and I know how hard it is to watch a parent slip away. Know when he goes its time for him to feel well and find peace. And you will be okay, and he is always close by. And you dont have to be strong, sometimes you have to break, its healthy and you must give in to those moments.

God bless you. I lost my grandmother to liver cancer last year and it was very hard to deal with. I was with her through the onset and the end. Seeing her slip between my fingertips was so very hard. The strong, valiant, proud woman I admired was suddenly unable to wipe herself, or feed herself, or remember her beautiful life. Thankfully and mercifully, She is now in peace. I Just prayed for you and your family.

Cancer really is horrible – my grandfather was diagnosed with throat cancer last year. He was lucky, he beat it, and I hope your father can too.

I love Makeup Bag and I visit your site all the time. I too have dealt with cancer in my family. My mom passed away last month to the disease. I’m only 21, so it’s been pretty hard for me. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Erika.
I have been thinking about you and your father all week…hoping you are okay, and sending you and your family good thoughts and well wishes.
You have an engaging and endearing spirit and in our short visit together, it is easy to see that you are truly an amazing person.
When I meet genuine people that I immediately enjoy, I often think…his or her parents did a good job. I have to assume your father has shaped the woman we know today…and I have no doubt he is proud.
Spending this time with your father is an incredible gift. Enjoy it, be strong for him, and know you are loved.

Oh Erika, I’m so sorry! I love to read your website to find out what’s up in the makeup world and this quiet lurker really loves what you’re doing and reading about your life. Your dad is in my thoughts and prayers – cherish every moment you have together. My beloved uncle is going through chemo/radiation for throat cancer at the moment and it kills me to be 3000 miles away from him – I hope sending my love via phone and email is helping.
Oh, a few of my friends are involved in this project to spread decent cancer care worldwide:

Too many people we all love are hurting and dying because of cancer… I’m fervently hoping through medical research and projects like this we can beat this horrid illness someday.

Erika, my hugs and prayers and thoughts of sympathy are with you and your family. My father is also in paradise, living in Oahu, and has been battling prostate cancer and sarcoma since 2000 and my mother is battling breast cancer in Japan. May our strength, love and hope help our loved ones and outselves through this most difficult time. I pray for science to end this horrible disease. The cure cannot come soon enough…
Please take care,
Katherine

Your father is blessed to be in such a beautiful place (surrounded by his family). You and your family are in my prayers.
