Makeup Bag: 2007 December

December 25, 2007

So this is Christmas…

Makeup Bag wishes you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a healthy and happy new year!

Bree, Erika and Janey

Update: This photo with our oldest daughter (Bree) and youngest daughter (Janey) left a certain middle daughter (Bailey) feeling slightly left out yesterday. (”Are you kidding, mom?! You have a picture of them on Makeup Bag and not me? OH. I FORGOT. You guys just need me as an example for TEENAGE BREAKOUTS AND FRIED HAIR—not for a family photo.”)

(Hormones, anyone?)

Bailey and Erika at Lake Tahoe on Christmas Eve

So here we are on the top of a mountain with our 13-year-old daughter, Bailey.  That is gorgeous Lake Tahoe in the background. The weather was beyond incredible (super cold at 10,000 feet above sea level, but the sky was clear and the sun was out)—it had to be the prettiest Christmas Eve ever.

The Making of Teen Corner

Happy Holidays from Bree

Getting the weekly Teen Corner column written and edited is quite an ordeal here at Makeup Bag.

Just for fun, I thought I’d give you a little peek into my week (think of it as my gift to you!):

Sunday

Mom: Have you thought about your column for this week?

Me: Please, mother. I’m still recovering from yesterday’s editing process. My brain needs a moment to herself.

Monday

Mom: Don’t forget to think about this week’s Teen Corner.

Me: Forget ? You’re making this too easy for me, Mom.

Mom: Cute. I need a first draft by Wednesday.

Me: Does a title count as a first draft?

Tuesday

Mom: First draft is…

Me: Whoa whoa whoa, whoa! Don’t go getting all bossy with me, woman. I know my deadline.

Mom: …just making sure.

Wednesday

Mom: I’m waiting.

Me: Um. I have volleyball practice. And I need to study for a test. And my little sister wants me to read to her. And I need to organize my necklaces. And I think I hear Dad calling me…

Mom: ?!

Thursday

Mom: Are we going to go through this again? Seriously?

Me: Mom, chill. I’ve got it all written out in my head. I just have to get it down on paper.

Mom: Bree, I don’t have time…

Me: You’re doing that yelling-with-a-calm-voice thing that I hate. Please stop.

Mom: Would you rather I yelled with a yelling voice?

Friday

Me: MOOOOOOOOOOOMMM—I finished my first draft!

Mom: Only because you want to go out.

Me: Whoa there Nellie. Do you want the draft or not?

Saturday

Me: Mother, are you KIDDING ME? There’s more red marks on this paper than a 27-year-old with Chicken Pox. I have plans today—I don’t have time to re-write this entire thing.

Mom: Ahahahahahahahaaaa. HA.

Me: Bugllshsrignsdlkfignlkdnsdlngkdlslslsl!!!!#@ !

Mom: Ha.

I really shouldn’t complain because Teen Corner is a lot of fun. My friends are so jealous that I have my own column on a makeup website—and I have access to some incredible products. And I have real, live, readers!

Thank you for stopping by here every week and supporting Teen Corner .

I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season—with lots of lipgloss and yummy-smelling shampoo—and I look forward to sharing with you in 2008.

xoxo, Bree

Lancome Holiday Card

Lancome Holiday Card

Holiday cards are the best part of the season. We love to get little notes and messages from people we haven’t heard from all year, see the handwriting of people we usually receive email from, and see how friends and family members have changed since last year’s holiday card.

We’ve received some wonderful holiday cards from our industry friends this year, but this illustration by Hilary Knight for Lancôme is our favorite.

There’s something so magical, yet glamorous about it. Pure love.

Thank you, Lancôme!
