Shooooooooooo

We didn’t think Shu Uemura could improve on perfection, but they have:

Shu Uemura New Lash Curler

We’ve been using the Shu Uemura eyelash curler for, what seems like, ever. And now they have done the unthinkable- MESSED WITH IT!

The new eyelash curler features an upgraded pad in a “mushroom” shape, a new upgraded hinge and a longer frame size. We can’t help but wonder if they’re ruining a good thing, or if this new design is going to knock our socks off.

We just ordered ours, along with a few more pairs of Brown Cross lashes (a girl can never be too rich, too thin, or have too many pairs of Brown Cross lashes), and we’re happy to say they’ve kept the same great price of $18.

We’ll let you know what we think after it arrives in a few days.

Prescriptives Summer 2007: The Vibrants

As much as we love us some shimmer, we begin to look like the reflector on the front of our 10-speed bike if we aren’t careful. With highlighting foundation, brightening concealer, shimmering blush and glowing bronzer- it’s almost guaranteed that we’ll frighten the neighbors with our super-powered glow as we leave the house each morning.

This is why we’re so excited about Prescriptives new matte bronzer, part of their Summer 2007 Collection, The Vibrants.

Prescriptives Summer 2007: The Vibrants
With two new shades of Colorscope Cheek Color in Bronzer- Light and Bronzer- Medium we can add just the right amount of sun-kissed goodness to our face without overdoing it. Especially if we use the Prescriptives Bronzer Brush, which allows more control in application than any other bronzer brush we’ve tried.

Also in this collection we found a new shade of Tint Balm for the Lips called Caramel that would be one of the three items we’d take with us if we were to be stranded on a desert island (the other two would be Anthelios SX and a journal).

Caramel Tint Balm for the LipsWe admit the color looks scary in the tube, but please give it a chance. You won’t be disappointed in the barely-there caramel color or gentle hint of vanilla. Caramel Tint Balm is lip balm perfection. (Apparently we’re not the only one who thinks this- Caramel Tint Balm is temporarily sold out on Prescriptives.com, but your local counter might still have it.)

There’s also an incredible new self-tanner called Sunsheen Custom Color that we can’t wait to tell you about. Watch for our Self-Tanner Review, appearing soon, for more details.

Toss your razors, girls

As we’re (ever so) slowly descending upon limb-baring season (we woke up to snow this morning, people. SNOW!) we’ve been testing various products to get our skin summer-ready.

In addition to self-tanners, body scrubs and pedicure essentials (reviews coming soon!) we happened upon Carefree Hair Remover TOTALLY SMOOTH Leg Creme, a new depilatory hair removal system by the brand known best for pantiliners.

The last time we tried to remove hair from our legs this way was back in high school with a bottle of Nair and not enough patience to read through the directions before slathering ourself in the foul-smelling, rash-inducing cream depilatory. I’m sure Nair has perfected its formula since then but we haven’t bothered to find out for fear of looking like we’ve been in the jungle with a swarm of killer mosquitoes for three days.

Or maybe we haven’t ventured into the depilatory aisle because, much like the reason we haven’t had Lasik surgery- wearing contacts doesn’t bother us, shaving is simple and easy. And it gets the job done.

Carefree Totally Smooth Leg Creme

However last week, in the spirit of testing new products, we gave Carefree TOTALLY SMOOTH Leg Creme a stab and amazed ourself with the effortless, pleasant-smelling process. It was as simple as smoothing the cream onto our legs with the sponge-tip applicator, waiting three minutes (we used this time to pluck our eyebrows), and then removing with a plastic padded tool that looks and feels like a razor, but has a squeegee-type end instead of a razor blade. Our hands never even touched the cream.

We typically shave our legs every other day and have been patiently waiting for hair stubble to appear FOR THE LAST FIVE DAYS. After careful inspection, we finally found a little regrowth on our knees this morning, but the rest of our legs seem smooth. This is probably because Carefree TOTALLY SMOOTH Leg Creme is able to remove even the shortest hairs from beneath the surface, allowing for smoother legs longer than shaving would.

The funny thing is, since we’ve been testing self-tanners all week, we didn’t even use the recommended Carefree TOTALLY SMOOTH Daily Moisturizer which is said to leave hair feeling finer and less noticeable when applied daily and used in conjunction with the hair remover cream. If we had, our results might have been better.

Both of these products can be found in most drug stores and grocery stores nationwide for less than $8 each. How’s that for Carefree?

Another Chance

Chanel’s newest incarnation of their feminine fragrance, Chance, is at once light, fresh, and delightfully green. Yes, Chance Eau Fraiche is green in color, giving a sweet contrast to the pinkness of its sister fragrance.

Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche

This lighter and less floral version of Chance has notes of citrus, Water Hyacinth and Jasmine Absolute along with woody notes of Amber, Patchouli and Fresh Vetiver.

A perfect spring fragrance that makes us feel like skipping through the parking lot on the way to the office.

Also? It’s GREEN!
