In our Bag
Yesterday as we ran around town doing errands and a little shopping, our bag was seriously weighing us down.
After examining the contents, we realized we pretty much need it all. (It doesn’t look like much here, but all together, this stuff weighs a TON!)
Let’s see what we have:
- This Coach Pebbled Leather Shoulder Tote is perfect for someone that’s always digging through their bag as it’s open on top. (This is not good when your bag tips over in the car, or when you’re wearing it on your shoulder and bend down to tie your 4 year old’s shoes and find your belongings all over the floor!) (Bag Snob will be so disappointed in us, but we just can’t bear to spend more than a few hundred dollars on a bag.)
- Appointment book and Anthropologie notebook. Both take up too much space, but are essential.
- Coupon for FREE panties at Victoria’s Secret. (Our daughter Bailey ended up scoring these).
- Two pairs of sunglasses are definitely not a necessity. The ugly studded Ralph Lauren discount glasses must go.
- The Brighton wallet overstuffed with credit cards, receipts, and business cards is not our favorite wallet, but fits easily into a smaller bag when we’re travelling or going out.
- Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in Pinklight. (A tamer and more wearable alternative to Proenza Pink).
- Starbucks card! Don’t leave home without it.
- BECCA pressed powder in Sesame. LOVE this stuff!
- Cell phone. (Surprisingly, this is here. We’re ALWAYS forgetting our phone at home).
- This hot pink MAC makeup bag was a stocking stuffer for one of our daughters a few years ago but she never used it. Now it’s ours. Want to see what’s inside?
Nail files, MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner, Purell, Estee Lauder compact (it’s engraved with our name!), Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets, Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Tiramisu, baby nail clippers, ibuprofen, L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, Shiseido Shimmering Lipstick in Rouge Irise SL8 and BECCA Glossy Lip Tint in Frappe.
After all that, the only thing we can do without is the extra pair of sunglasses. Damn.
Are you weighed down by your bag, or do we need to be jealous of your minimalist style?
I’m definitely weighed down but I couldn’t bare to do it any other way!
Thanks for posting this…I was looking at makeup bags this morning & thinking that I’d love to see what everyone else carries around with them…maybe you can inspire others (Blogdorf Goodman for one!) to show what they carry around!

hah! mine is just like that! in fact today, it was UNUSUALLY heavy so I looked in and I had left 2 wrist weights I use at the gym in my purse. how horrible……oh yea and socks. I have no idea how the socks got in there.

My purse currently contains the following:
- wallet (really a Coach wristlet) with credit cards, IDs, and various store coupons like Bath&Body Works. I find it’s handy to use the wristlet as my wallet because it makes it easy to go really minimal – my cell phone and a lip gloss fit in perfectly.
- cell phone
- tissues
- Sephora mirror compact – you know, the kind they give you when you get a gift card. This one’s from this past Christmas – pink, red, yellow and orange with little crystals. Inside I keep a pack of Sephora blotting sheets.
- pen
- nail file
- floss (yeah, I’m one of those people!)
- eye drops
- hand sanitizer
- Curel hand lotion – this is my crack.
- Altoids cinnamon gum
- Tylenol
- Clinique Superbalm
- tarte rise and shine lip stain/gloss duo
- mints from various restaurants we’ve been to lately – I hoarde these and keep them in case of a sweet tooth emergency.
- free-floating receipts – I clean these out about once a week.
Wow…writing that out makes it look like I lug around a lot, but in reality I’ve gotten so particular about finding/using minis of things that all of that fits into a 4.5×10″ Coach bag! I’m enjoying my small purse days for all they’re worth right now since I’ll be among the diaper bag gang in a couple of months!

hahaha! i was going to do a post about what’s in my bag, but the list got ridiculously long and i didn’t feel like rewriting it! lol i wll one day soon (i just recently found it) thanks for sharing! =)
