Events we would totally go to if we didn’t live in the middle of the desert

If you live in New York or are within commuting distance to The Big Apple, you suck. (Of course we say you suck because we’re totally jealous and wish we were you.)

Two great events are coming up that we want to go to but, alas, we live in the land of tumbleweeds and clever marketing campaigns.

But you should go!

Tomorrow night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Jean Godfrey-June, beauty director of our most favorite shopping magazine, Lucky, will be at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street in New York to kick off Clinique’s first ever Editor’s Choice Gift With Purchase.

Included in this Bonus GWP is Lucky Magazine staff’s favorite and most essential Clinique products. Which means they should be your favorite and most essential products as well, because Jean Godfrey-June and her staff know a thing or two about beauty essentials:

  • NEW High Definition Lashes Mascara in Black
  • Almost Lipstick in Black Honey (Makeup Bag LOVES this stuff!)
  • Colour Surge Impossibly Glossy in Sugar Plum
  • Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (Would it really be a Bonus GWP without this staple?)
  • Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector in Invisible Light
  • Cosmetics bag (train case)
  • Mini bag (pencil case shaped)

You get ALL of this (a $60 value!) with a Clinique purchase of $25 or more. This is not a joke, friends.

And next week, the sisters and creators of Benefit Cosmetics, Jean & Jane Ford, will be at Sephora 5th Avenue.

From 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on February 27th you can meet the creative forces behind Benefit Cosmetics and hear them dish about their favorite beauty tips and tricks. You can even stay after for a makeover from a Benefit Beauty Artist.

Aaaah, city life.

Catching up

Wow! Has it really been 4 days since you’ve heard from us?

We wish we could say we’ve been busy trying to figure out why the world’s conglomeration of comment spammers decided to bombard our measly little site and tear it to shreds with its insurance quotes and fake compliments or why all our text seems to be coming up BOLD for no reason at all… but the truth is? We’re slacking.

Slackers are us.

Must be all that sunshine we were exposed to over the weekend.

Anyway, we have much to tell you, starting with how we’re loving Liz Earle’s Hot Cloth Cleanser more and more each time we use it. We especially like how it smells (ever so faintly) of Noxzema. In a good way!

Or how we depleted our first born child’s college fund at the BECCA counter. (Don’t worry, she totally understands the importance of having a mother with good skin.) (Also, the importance of having a mother that shares her beauty products.)

For all of you that wondered if Proenza Pink is the right color for dark hair/dark eyes, WONDER NO MORE:

Bree in Proenza Pink

Our 14 year old in Proenza Pink and gobs of rocker-chick black eyeliner (in case you didn’t notice).

Update: Bree is wearing clear gloss over Proenza Pink at the recommendation of the girl at the Lancôme Boutique in San Jose. Personally, we like it without the gloss (it’s very creamy and not at all chalky, unlike what we were expecting) but this girl clearly has her own style. Also? Her mother knows NOTHING. Duh!

We love love love red, and adore this red Lancôme ad for Rouge Absolu Désir, their new Reshaping & Replenishing LipColour SPF 15.

This long-lasting lipstick delivers rich color with 6-hours of continuous moisture and is available in ten limited-edition shades. Our favorites are Valentine and Berry Noir but you should check them all out because there’s a great shade for everyone.
